Super news. The first step towards normalcy. I wanted to write, you know this pre-dialysis reality, but actually you don’t know what was before, because I started blogging just on dialysis. And finally when everything more or less stabilizes (yes yes yes, I continue to collect various bacteria) then comes the question….
AND WHAT NOW?
Let me outline the situation for you a bit. Before starting dialysis, this is how I thought about this health from appointment to appointment. /Read: infrequently./ Looking at other stories it’s incredibly lucky that I had/have. A plus five for my parents, who allowed me to dance less athletically at first, only to end up in volleyball. And where the sport ends the YOUTH life begins iiiiiiii… A lot is lost on that, but that’s for another occasion.
I don’t know what to do with this phantom.
Just like that. Inside I have the conviction that I am the right person to show others that health adventures can be tamed, but… I don’t know if as a “healthy” person I want to surround myself with this topic. Besides, what will I write if I’m constantly well? Boring, no?
This question has already been with me for some time, and I’ll probably do some more thinking about whether I want to continue blogging (and possibly other media), if so, in what direction I’d like to direct it….
For the time being, I have found a half-measure
In April of this year, I started working with the People and Medicine Foundation. I have a chance to realistically create things from scratch, oversee how the whole process of dealing with various formalities looks like from behind the scenes iii… Become a team leader!!! On top of that, you know, everything in the topic around health which currently overlaps with my “business” online. Thanks to the fact that this is a Foundation I can try everything a little bit (seriously, from podcasting to organizing conferences). By the way, below are some of the projects we are doing now:
—Conference “On Sickness in a Human Way” (02.2025 next edition!!!)
—Animation for toddlers aged 3-6 years old
—Guidebook for parents of children with chronic diseases
—Cards “How to talk to a child about illness”.
Yeah, it’s a bit apparent that I’m getting out of the dialysis stage….
Volunteering
Also, I recommend everyone who has excess free time to join us! It’s really fun to do, it’s going in a better and better direction so such a “stage” of being a volunteer, with the right attitude can be super cool. Despite the lack of economic benefits, it gives you the opportunity to learn a lot of things and try your hand at going out:)
If you are interested in the topic of the Foundation, write to me!
Take care,
Olahola xo
